Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas popularly known by the name Ashanti was born October 13 the 13th of October, 1980 at Glen Cove New York United States. Ashanti is a United States singer, songwriter as well as an actor. Her talent was first noticed as a teen. She signed with Murder Inc. Records, in 2002. The that same year, she was in The Fat Joe's What's Luv? song and Ja Rule's Always on Time track both of which were huge hits. When she had Foolish and What's Luv being at number one, she became the first woman to record two songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart top 10 of the United States. The song is called What's Luv! We will be celebrating the birthday of her favorite actress. Ashanti Douglas, also known as Ashanti as she's popularly known, was born in Glen Cove New York in 1980. Tina Douglas, her mother was a former dance teacher. Ken-Kaide Douglas is her father. Kenashia Shai Douglas is her younger sister. She is the oldest. Douglas was named Ashanti Douglas in Ghana after she was a part of the Ashanti Empire. Women held enormous power and Douglas was hoping that Ashantis would follow in the footsteps of those. Blige s song Reminisce. Ashanti was an actor in Spike Lee's Malcolm X (released in 1992) and Ted Demme's Who's the Man? Some of her appearances were in music video clips, such as K.R.S. Act One's MC's Like They Do Not Know as well as 8 Off's Ghetto Woman. After being courted by various label labels, including Bad Boy and Jive Ashanti was unable to make it as a vocalist. Amid this struggle, Ashanti was a performer on stage in New York. At the Murder Inc. Studio she was waiting to make an opportunity to break through. Ashanti originally appeared on Big Pun's song How We Roll as a backing vocalist. She was also featured on Fat Joe's What's Luv? Ja Rule's "Always on Time" and Fat Joe's What's Luv! Ashanti sampled the track of 1983 by DeBarge Stay with Me on her debut single Foolish. Ashanti released her first album, which was titled "Ashanti", in 2002, under Irv Getti's Murder Inc. Record Label. The Declaration, her fourth studio album came out in June 2008. Hey Baby was released for radio and on digital platforms on 16 October 2009.
